Executive Headshots Los Angeles: Celebrity-Level Portraits for Leaders

When an executive books me directly, rather than through a company team day, they're usually looking for two things: basic headshots and lifestyle shots. Something a little more polished than everyday headshots.

More polished means like a celebrity. I have 27 years of celebrity portraiture behind me, and I bring all of that experience into every executive session. The directing, the lighting, the eye for the frame that makes someone look like they belong on a cover. Executives get the same treatment.

If you're booking for a whole company or team, that's a different service. My guide to corporate photographers in Los Angeles covers team shoots in detail. This page is for the individual leader building a personal brand.

What "celebrity polish" actually means

Shooting executives is not the same as shooting celebrities. With celebrities I push harder: bigger energy, wilder environments, bolder wardrobe. With executives, the goal is a clean look. Generally a suit or something corporate. Corporate suits aren't the most exciting thing, but they provide a professional image, and that image does real work.

The polish comes from everything around the suit. The lighting is precise and flattering. The expression is confident without being stiff. The backgrounds are chosen with intention, not whatever wall was closest. And the directing is the part most photographers skip: I read the person in the first ten seconds and know which version of encouragement unlocks their face. Most executives hate having their photo taken. My job is to make the ninety seconds in front of the camera feel easy, and the result looks effortless because the process was professional.

Corporate photography has a very simple style: brightly lit and confident. If a portfolio is all moody artist portraits and no boardroom-ready headshots, keep looking.

Headshots plus lifestyle

The basic headshot covers LinkedIn, the company website, the conference bio, the press kit. Bright, clean, authoritative. That's the foundation.

The lifestyle shots are what separate a forgettable executive presence from a real personal brand. These are the images for keynote announcements, thought leadership, book jackets, media features. A portrait in a beautiful space, an editorial-style frame that shows who you are beyond the boardroom. When someone Googles you before a meeting, these are the images that shape what they expect.

How the session runs

Executive sessions run two to three hours, sometimes longer depending on how many looks you want. Most executives shoot five to seven looks: the core headshots plus a full range of lifestyle and editorial images.

We shoot in my downtown Los Angeles studio, at your office, or on location. Studios are great because there are so many to choose from based on the vibe you want. For lifestyle images, the rule is the same one I use with every client: shoot where your world lives. Your office, a beautiful interior, a setting that says something about who you are.

Every session starts with a personal styling consultation. I tell you exactly what to bring and how to prepare, adjusted for the locations we've chosen.

What to wear

For men: bring a suit and casual outfits. The suit covers the boardroom; the casual looks cover everything else, from keynote speaker to founder profile.

For women: dresses, a suit, a short dress, a long dress, an evening gown. It really depends on the person and the image we're building.

Bring more than you think you need. We'll edit together on the day and choose the strongest combinations. The styling consultation before the shoot means you show up knowing exactly what's expected.

The directing difference

Most executives hate having their photo taken. They walk in tense, they've been dreading it all week, and they don't have all day. That's fine. I don't need all day.

Sometimes I get people to laugh, sometimes I get them to smile, sometimes I'll tell them a joke. I read the person in front of me in the first ten seconds and know which version of encouragement unlocks their face. It's not a trick. The best headshot of your session is usually the one where you forgot the camera was there.

This is where the celebrity experience matters most. I've directed every personality type under pressure, from guarded CEOs to camera-shy founders. The result is an expression that looks alive and confident, not frozen into the dead-eyed corporate smile that fills most team pages.

Your LinkedIn headshot matters more than you think

Your LinkedIn photo is the most viewed professional image you own. Recruiters, clients, partners, journalists: they all see it before they meet you. Most executive LinkedIn photos are cropped wedding pictures or five-year-old conference badges.

A proper LinkedIn headshot is bright, current, and confident. It should look like you on your best day, not a stranger in a suit. When we shoot, we build your LinkedIn image deliberately, lit and directed for the small thumbnail where most people will first see it. One strong headshot upgrades every profile, pitch deck, and bio you appear in.

Booking and payment

Half is due to book your date, and half is due on the day of the shoot. The deposit is non-refundable, but if something comes up, your date can be rescheduled. Sessions take place in my downtown Los Angeles studio, at your office, or on location.

What it costs

Executive sessions are built around looks, and most executives book five to seven. Sessions start at $1,500, and full personal branding packages are quoted based on the number of looks, locations, and styling involved.

Every session includes professional retouching and a personal styling consultation before the shoot. Contact me through the site or call +1 (510) 326-4934 and tell me what the portraits are for. We'll build the session around it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many looks does an executive need? Five to seven. Core headshots for LinkedIn and corporate use, plus lifestyle and editorial images for keynote announcements, media, and personal branding.

How long does an executive headshot session take? Two to three hours for five to seven looks, sometimes longer depending on locations.

Where do you shoot executive headshots in Los Angeles? My downtown Los Angeles studio, your office, or on location. Studios offer the most control over the vibe; locations add personality for lifestyle images.

What should I wear for executive headshots? Men: a suit plus casual outfits. Women: dresses, a suit, and options from short dress to evening gown. A personal styling consultation before the shoot tells you exactly what to bring.

What's the difference between executive headshots and corporate team headshots? Executive sessions are individual: one leader, multiple looks, personal branding. Corporate team shoots photograph dozens or hundreds of employees with matched lighting in a single day. For team bookings, see my corporate photography guide.

Do you come to our office? Yes. I shoot in my downtown Los Angeles studio, at your office, or on location. For individual executives, the studio gives the most control over the final look.

How far in advance should I book? As early as you can. Half the session fee books your date.

How often should an executive update their headshots? Every two to three years, or whenever your look or role changes. An outdated headshot that doesn't match the person walking into the room costs you credibility.
